HISTORICAL RESEARCH, American Civil War
Extensive research for the Fugitive Federals Civil War database under Dr. Lorien Foote. Involved finding primary and secondary sources, and using those sources and manuscripts to write a comprehensive biography on a previously unstudied Civil War soldier who was recorded as having escaped from a Confederate Prison.
August 2023 - December 2023
HISTORICAL RESEARCH, Roman Empire
Directed studies under Classics Department faculty member Dr. Christoph Konrad. Involved weekly meetings and extensive research on ancient and imperial Rome. The semester was closed by writing a research paper on a topic student's were passionate about. A full research paper using primary ancient sources was written about the Vestal Virgins and their importance in Imperial Rome.
January 2024- May 2024
Directed research under Classics Department faculty member Dr. Christoph Konrad that involved weekly meetings and extensive research on ancient Greece. This directed studies program was taken alongside a 400-level course taught by Dr. Konrad which enhanced the research experience. The semester was closed by writing a research paper on the differences between Athens and Sparta in their treatment of women, as displayed by primary sources from 5th Century B.C.E.
HISTORICAL RESEARCH, European Mobilities
To complete my History capstone project under Dr. Stephen Riegg, I read several broad-ranging histories of modern European movements and conducted original research using primary sources on the movements of Immigrants into Cincinnati, Ohio from Ireland in the 19th century. My project spanned the years of 1840-1870, and covered a wide range of topics including religious prejudice, racial tensions, and the Irish Famine.
