ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Anne Sparks. I am a Senior at Texas A&M, pursuing a double major in History and Classics, with a concentration in languages and literature, and a minor in Jewish Studies. I am excited to be graduating in the upcoming Fall of 2024; a fact that I am extremely proud of, as I will be the first woman in my father’s family to obtain her Bachelor's degree. I have enjoyed each semester so far at Texas A&M. Being able to explore the ancient world, its languages, literature, and history has been extremely rewarding. My appreciation for the world around me and my own native language has increased tenfold with my understanding of how it came to be from the start. Alongside my studies in the ancient world, adding a second major in History has helped me orient myself by looking at the world through a wider lens. History did not just happen in the Western world. This being so, looking at global history helps me understand Classical civilizations in a broader sense. In turn, it has changed how I view the current world around me. But academics are not the only thing I have learned at TAMU. Beyond academics, student organizations have given me a chance to contribute meaningfully to society. TAMU BUILD, an organization dedicated to constructing medical clinics through volunteer service to send them to underserved areas, has been a significant part of my extracurricular journey. Being actively involved, especially as a member of their Internal Relations command team, has allowed me to make tangible contributions to communities in need, aligning with my desire to create positive change. As I start my last year in college, I am eager to synthesize the knowledge and skills gained from my extracurriculars, University Honors, and my classes. These diverse yet interconnected facets of my education will pave the way as I start on the exciting journey of preparing for graduate school applications next fall.
